Abby Lippman
Abby Lippman got her BA from Cornell University ( Ithaca NY ) and her PhD from McGill University ( Montreal , Quebec ). She is currently Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health, with cross appointments in Family Medicine and Social Studies of Medicine, all at McGill. She is also President of the Canadian Women's Health Network, a role that allows her to combine her academic and activist passions. Her research has centred mainly on women's health and includes feminist studies of applied genetic and reproductive technologies as well as critical analyses of health and pharmaceutical policies. She is particularly interested in the politics of women's health, and has developed the concepts of "geneticization" and "neo-medicalization" to analyze and understand contemporary approaches to and applications of biotechnology to women's health.
