American Fertility Association
The American Fertility Association (AFA) is a national organization that "educates the public about reproductive disease and support[s] families during struggles with infertility and adoption." Along with a variety of information about assisted reproductive technologies (ART), the AFA also offers information about adoption as an alternative. American Society for Reproductive Medicine
Founded in 1944, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) includes professionals from a variety of disciplines who are involved in various aspects of reproductive medicine. The site provides information for professionals and patients regarding reproductive medicine, as well as information on available techniques. ASRM also puts out various publications, including Fertility and Sterility, a "peer-reviewed medical journal in obstetrics and gynecology." This website discusses the complexities involved with fertility-related issues. The members of the group include practitioners from around the globe. The site has been translated into French and Spanish, and contains information on diagnosis and treatment options, as well as ethical and legal implications. Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority
The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) is "a non-departmental [g]overnment body that regulates and inspects all UK clinics providing IVF, donor insemination, or the storage of eggs, sperm or embryos." HFEA "also licenses and monitors all human embryo research being conducted in the UK.² The website provides information for potential donors, as well as available treatment options. It also provides information about the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act of 1990 and the resulting consequences to patients and practitioners.
