IFT Advances Sound Science with Nanoscience and Food Safety Conferences
IFT International Food Nanoscience Conference
August 1, 2007
Chicago, Illinois
This conference is being held in conjunction with the 2007 Institute of Food Technologists Annual Meeting & Food Expo. Nanoscience has emerged as one of the most exciting areas of research in decades. Moreover, skepticism and health concerns associated with this technology are beginning to surface, which will impact the ability of researchers worldwide. This conference will not only summarize ongoing research efforts as well as consumer perceptions and concerns, but also will present:
1. Perspectives on the state of nanotechnology in select regions of the globe including Europe, Asia, and the Americas
2. Potential benefits and risks associated with the nanoscale science of food
3. Potential food applications, including product/ingredient development; food processing/engineering; food safety, security, and defense; and food packaging
4. Current knowledge of potential regulatory and safety issues surrounding the use of nanomaterials in food applications

Global Food Safety & Quality Conference
August 1, 2007
Chicago, Illinois
This conference is being held in conjunction with the 2007 Institute of Food Technologists Annual Meeting & Food Expo. Anyone involved in the safety and quality of food will find this conference a "must attend" event for increasing their awareness of this critical issue. All attendees will have an opportunity to participate in an interactive demonstration of a user-friendly software tool that applies computerization to the CARVER + Shock methodology, and will receive a copy of the tool for their use. This tool is expected to be used within the food industry to increase awareness of factors influencing food defense, to encourage threat assessments, and to assist in developing methods to enhance security of food production facilities and processes. At this conference, participants will gain:
1. Increased awareness of food defense
2. Enhanced skills enabling you to think like an attacker, and therefore help prevent attacks
3. Experience in performing vulnerability assessments
